Aftermath of brain injury unpredictable

Each day Pennsylvania residents are injured in motor vehicle accidents. In the best situations those injuries are minor and heal quickly. In others however, they are much more serious and result in a long period of recovery. This is particularly true when the injury suffered is to someone’s brain.

Because no two people are the same, neither are their recoveries from a traumatic brain injury. While in some cases the trauma may be visible due to cuts and abrasions, in other instances it may not be obvious. Just because brain injuries are not obvious to the naked eye, does not mean that they are not serious however. Individuals dealing with traumatic brain injuries may deal with repercussions such as headaches and sensitivity to light for the rest of their lives. In addition, at times a brain injury could lead to a change in the victim’s personality.

A woman who suffered a serious brain injury in a car accident worked hard at rehabilitation and recently graduated from a Pennsylvania college. The road to school was not an easy one. After months of rehabilitation consisting of speech therapy, occupation therapy and physical therapy, she took a few classes at a Pennsylvania college. When those courses went well, she dove in and became a fulltime undergraduate student, even living on campus. She faced both physical difficulties, such as issues with walking, as well as cognitive in the form of not remembering faces of individuals she saw each day.

It is possible that after being involved in such as serious car accident, the woman filed a personal injury lawsuit against the individual responsible for the incident. Since she underwent what was sure to be expensive medical treatment as she recovered, money received in a successful lawsuit would have come in handy.
