Faulty car parts increase likelihood of car accident

Pennsylvania residents may be aware of the fact that certain Hyundai vehicles are being recalled for a possible problem with the brakes. The manufacturer recalled about 305,000 of the 2011 and 2012 Sonatas because of an issue with the transmission that could allow the vehicle to move out of park and roll, potentially causing a car accident. This places drivers at a high chance of harm to themselves and others, even when the car is not in motion.

The car company states that the vehicles’ problems are related to a problem with a stop lamp switch. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Hyundai has recalled vehicles due to a problem with the brakes. This recall marks the third time in six years that a problem with the braking system has compelled the manufacturer to recall a large number of vehicles.

At this time, the manufacturer claims that there have been no injuries caused by this defect. It states that an increased number of warranty claims alerted the company to a potential problem, and that it is working to figure out why there are issues with the brake switch. However, no reports of injuries does not mean that no one has been injured due to this faulty car part.

When car parts place drivers at an unnecessary risk for injury and injuries result, it may be appropriate to take legal action. Manufacturers are responsible for ensuring the safety of drivers and may be liable for a car accident caused by a faulty part. If a Pennsylvania accident victim believes that he or she is a victim of a defective car part, he or she may seek the opinion of a lawyer.
