Fatal crash occurs after driver runs a stop sign

On Behalf of | Jan 24, 2014 | Car Accidents

A woman was killed and another man injured in an accident along the Pennsylvania-Ohio border.  The accident occurred on Jan. 11 at 8:00 p.m.  According to the Lawrence County coroner, the accident site was being treated as a crime scene.

Police reported that a driver traveling in a northerly direction along State Road blew through a stop sign at West Poland Avenue and struck the car containing the victims of this crash.  The force of the impact apparently forced their car off of the road and into a house while sheering a utility pole.  The woman reportedly died at the scene and the injured man was flown to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center.

Such an accident obviously will require additional investigation.  It needs to be determined whether the accident was caused due to the negligence of the other driver or because of some other factor such as a mechanical difficulty with the car.

Though law enforcement officers will attempt to make determinations as to how such a fatal motor vehicle accident could have occurred, victims and their family members will often want an independent investigation conducted to make certain that their concerns are addressed.  Attorneys can manage such an investigation.  They can also help clients seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, property damage and emotional distress.

Many accidents would not have occurred without some party being negligent.  These incidents often could have been avoided.  As the above circumstances indicate, however, these sorts of accidents can frequently turn tragic.
