Cement truck hits bus, injures 10 in Pennsylvania

All motorists should take care on the road not only to protect themselves, but to keep others safe as well. Truckers especially should exercise extreme caution when driving as the massive size of their vehicles can cause devastating wrecks that damage property and severe injuries that cripple individuals. Those who are involved in truck accidents often face a long, hard road to physical, emotional and financial recovery.

Ten people in Pittsburgh may be facing these difficulties after they were injured when the bus they were riding was rear-ended by a concrete mixing truck. The bus had to pulled to the curb at a bus stop when the truck glanced the side of it, sending the mixer onto its side. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, but authorities say the road was dry at the time of the collision. The 10 individuals injured were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

In order to reach the recover they seek, truck accident victim often must pay extensive medical fees, cope with pain and suffering, and miss work. These losses can set one back financially and emotionally, making it hard to deal with his or her situation. These circumstances might be exacerbated when the victim feels as if the individual who harmed him or her is not being held accountable for his or her actions.

Luckily, the civil legal system allows these victims to file a personal injury lawsuit in an attempt to recover compensation for their damages and to provide accountability. Negligence and causation are the two elements that must be shown beyond a preponderance of the evidence in order to win a case. An attorney will work for the plaintiff to gather the best evidence possible and use it to put forth the best legal case to support the victim’s best interests. Then, hopefully when all is said and done, the victim can put the matter behind him or her with a little money in his or her pocket.
