Pennsylvania woman injured when vehicle hit by salt truck

This winter has been brutal, complete with frigid temperatures and excessive amounts of snow. When roads get nasty, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation seeks to quickly clear them. Pennsylvanians appreciate the hard work these individuals put in, but the increased presence of salt trucks can pose dangers to other motorists.

A Connellsville woman knows all too well the risks posed by these large vehicles. Recently in New Stanton, a salt truck was clearing the shoulder of Route 119 when it crossed into the path of the victim’s vehicle. Her SUV crashed into the side of the truck and rammed underneath it, destroying the front end of the vehicle. The 50-year-old victim was taken to the hospital where her condition is unknown. The accident remains under investigation.

Truck accidents like this can cause serious injuries. Victims may suffer broken bones, severe cuts and they may be left with a permanent disability. These victims are often forced to cope with extreme physical and emotional pain in addition to financial losses. Medical bills and lost wages stemming from an inability to work can leave a victim in a tough financial spot.

Luckily, those who harmed in a collision can seek to recover their losses through a personal injury lawsuit. An attorney experienced with handling Pennsylvanians’ accident claims can help with the process by providing a victim with sound understanding of the legal routes available and crafting a strong legal strategy.

To put the victim in the best legal position possible, an attorney will do his or her best to show a truck driver’s negligence caused the accident and the victim’s injuries. If a jury agrees, or if a settlement is reached beforehand, then the victim may be awarded compensation for both economic and noneconomic losses.
