MyFord Touch system failures allow class action to move forward

Imagine that you are driving through a heavy rain storm when your windshield wipers suddenly stop working. Within a matter of seconds you are unable to see the roadway or even the vehicle in front of you. This causes you to become involved in a serious crash that causes you to suffer injuries.

After the crash, you learn that your wipers stopped working because of a system failure caused by your “infotainment” system that is built into your car’s dash. You soon learn that the system has been plagued with issues and that the automaker is aware of the danger this poses to drivers. But despite this fact, the automaker does little more than release a technical service bulletin — it does not fix the problem.

If you were in a situation such as this, what would you do? If you’re like many people across the nation then you may have considered joining the class action lawsuit that was filed against Ford for this very issue. In the lawsuit, the class claimed that the automaker had “concealed known problems with its high-tech MyFord Touch system” that could have caused some very serious collisions.

Thanks to a recent court ruling, those who filed a claim in a timely manner will be able to move their fraud claims forward in court. Although this may seem like a small victory, it could prove big in the end. Just as we have seen in the past, this case holds the automaker responsible for its negligence, which could have resulted in serious or even fatal injuries in some cases. If the class wins their case, the ruling could force Ford to reconsider how it handles safety issues in the future.
