Fans of the reality television series “American Idol” may remember that auditions were recently held here in Pennsylvania for the upcoming season. People came from other states in the area just to audition. One of those hopefuls ended up becoming the victim of a car accident.

Police reported that she and five other people were on their way home after the auditions. As they traveled on Interstate 95, the vehicle flipped and came to a rest in the median. Investigators are still attempting to determine what caused the 16-year-old driver of the Jeep to lose control of the vehicle.

All six of the vehicle occupants suffered injuries. The 20-year-old with the “American Idol” audition ticket in her pocket died as a result of her injuries. A 19-year-old suffered some broken ribs and a head injury. Her current condition was not known at the time of this writing. The injuries suffered by the other four people in the vehicle were not considered to be life threatening.

As the investigation into this car accident continues, the family of the deceased victim is incurring expenses and other losses due to the fact that they have to bury her. Moreover, the woman who suffered a head injury could be facing a significant recovery period. The family, the woman and anyone else with serious injuries may file a civil claim seeking restitution for any damages sustained. Negligence will need to be proved before a Pennsylvania court will consider awarding any damages sought by any victims that survived the crash or the family of the deceased victim.
