Police say big rig driver was drunk during Guilford hit-and-run

Last week, we wrote that hit-and-runs are on the rise in many U.S. cities. This week, another hit-and-run collision is in the news here in the Chambersburg area.

Police have reported that on Tuesday a tractor-trailer that was headed north crashed into a vehicle that was stopped on the berm of Interstate 81 near Exit 10, right in Guilford Township. The driver of the rig apparently got out of his vehicle and ran away on foot after the collision. 

Fortunately, the hit-and-run driver was arrested by police shortly after he fled the scene. Police found him at the Cebco gas station.

Meanwhile, the two occupants of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries and were transported to York Hospital. Details of their injuries have not been reported.

It has been reported that police believe the driver of the tractor-trailer was drunk at the time of the motor vehicle accident. His blood-alcohol content has not been released.
